  1. Volunteers in France

The Huro Program grew up bigger and bigger, the opening of the rehabilitation center has opened the ways of action and so call for more human means. A campaign is already effective in order to recruit some volunteers for the management of the Program in France. We will renew this action at a higher level in the beginning of September 2009. In this sense the different tasks have been defined in order to affect one or several volunteers for each:

-Management of the eco volunteer Program
-Search of sponsors
-Organization and search for evenments
-Management of the patronage program
-Writing of the SVAA magazine
-Management of Internet website
-Communication
-Management of the members

  1. Eco volunteer Program

The eco volunteers provide an important contribution to the Huro Program. They support the work of the staff of the Program on place, they provide new ideas for the different actions and they support the communication of the actions to a larger number by their experience.

As for the volunteers in France, a new campaign will be realized and the Program will be redefined with more details. The news are:

-Proposition of specific missions to the ethology students, veterinary schools, or any other specialities that can support our field actions ( ponctual or on the long-term). The writing of a report will be requested for each mission.
-Creation of a data basis for this Program with name, adress and motivations of each person participating.
-Ecovolunteers will relay the information and material of the Huro Program (movies, pictures, travel writing, transport of medicines and material).

  1. Silsotchigre school

In the aim of giving a sense of responsability to the local population, the Huro Program will not take the global management of the school but will only intervene as a logistic and financial support in order to allow to the villagers to beneficiate of a development of education in investing themselves for the success of their own projects for the school.

The Huro Program will :

-Fund the necessary improvements, the books and scholar material.
-Propose its support in the organization of pedagogic field trips regarding environment and local fauna.
-Pay all or part of the salary of the teachers.
-Create a partnership with french schools
-Provide some computers and Internet connexion in order to open the possibilities of communication and education of the students.

These actions will be realized after the signature of a memorandum with the representatives of Silsotchigre village who will engage to maintain the school open, encourage the education, open the school program to some environment and sensitisation class, and finally to no more practice the jhum cultivation (shifting cultivation) and to stop traffic and poaching activities even occasional ones.

  1. Antipoaching squad

A squad composed of four rangers will be formed in order to control the releasing area (Nokrek National Park) with a sensitisation mission towards the visitors and people around the National Park. They will be employed by the Program, trained and equiped by it.

The patrols will be daily inside the national Park with an accent on the releasing areas notably during and after the operation.

  1. New constructions

The number of the pensionnaries becoming bigger and bigger, the pending list becoming longer, the necessity of new aviaries and of some new quarantine cages is more than never present.

The necessary improvements are:
-2 rehabilitation aviaries with a bridge between these two
-A fence around the rehabilitation complex and quarantine complex.
-4 quarantine cages.

  1. Veterinary aspects

The veterinary doctor, Dr Alexis Lécu (Paris Zoological Park), proposed himself to analyse the serology tests of the pensionnaries. Thus, the samples realized on place will be given to him who will send it to a laboratory that will test for free and send back to the Dr Lécu who will interprete the results, propose the eventual method and cares required.

A sample data basis will be created in order to have a sample of blood of each of the pensionnaries.

  1. Installation of an Internet connexion

The communication between France ad India being difficult because of the field conditions, the installation of an antenna for the Program will be a good help in the transmission of the informations toawrds France and contrary.

Moreover, this Internet point will be available for the students of Silsotchigre school.

  1. Alternatives for the harmfull agricultural practices

Because the villagers cannot know by themselves the practices to adopt, we have to make some research and to put in contact the specialists of the long term development with the representatives of the village then to support the search of funds for the realization of the new practices. Some meetings with the village will be organized in this sense with the venue of some representatives of the long term development.

  1. Exchange with the partners of the Huro Program and contact with the other sanctuaries

The financial partners as the advice ones have provided a great help for the realization of the actions and to the development of the Program. We wish to continue in this way. However, this is necessary that the Program open itself to the other sanctuaries and learn from their experiences. Even if it is already the case, we wish to develop more this aspect.
