to assume the first aid for the
villagers from isolated places,
thus we will work with local
humanitarian NGOs.

The center, Silsotchigre Wildlife rescue center, is situated on the land of the village of the same name. The foreigners are not allowed to possess any land in northeast India, thus an agreement has been signed with the village.
On the side of the Simsang river (longest river of the Garo Hills), the land offers an ideal topography (in stairs) allowing the respect of the inherent sanitary rules for each wildlife rescue center (rehabilitation situated upstream from the quarantine), in order to avoid any transmission of diseases between the newcomers and the residents of the center.
Right from their arrival the animals have to be placed in quarantine where they will receive cares and be submitted under several tests, chek-up and psychologic analysis. At the end of this process, groups will be constituted with the healthy individuals in view of the rehabilitation program, whereas the non healthy individuals (affected by serious diseases or became unfit for releasing) will stay at the center in the best conditions.
Each species dispose of a structure answering to its needs and favouring the reemergence of the natural behavior.
A care center allows the treatment of the non healthy individuals and some surgery acts; but also the to take responsability for the first aids regarding the villagers. Moreover, the vehicle of the Program allows the quick evacuation of someone to the nearest hospital (Tura, around 30 km). Also, a local veterinary is employed at full time to take care of the animals daily, realize the necessary acts and tests. Some western veterinary doctors are also welcomed in the center in order to allow an exchange of experience and knowlegde.
The scientific comittee of the Progam, composed of persons from several professions linked to conservation, has been constituted so as to improve the cares, rehabilitation and releasing.
The station allows to welcome some scientists to realize ethologic studies in natural area, as inside the center.
Situated at proximity, the school of the Program, the "Silsotchigre wildlife medium english school", welcome children from nursery to class IV (13 years old) coming from the village and from the surrondings. The official progam is teached , complemented by some subjects regarding wildlife and environement, and their conservation. This structure is enterely free and offers better persectives for future to some children who did not have any access to the educational system of the city.
The center wants to be a haven of peace and a step before freedom for these animals often traumatized and having lose all marks.
